Daddy's Little Helper

Asher has recently gotten very, very attached to Zack. He insists on doing everything Daddy does. If Daddy is working on something, so is Asher. If Daddy has a tool of some sort, Asher needs one to work with too! He is such a good helper!! Needless to say we MISSED Daddy while he was gone to New Orleans last week. We had some trees cut down last week and Zack had to fill in the holes where they chopped up the stumps and of course Asher had to help Daddy. Here are some pictures I took because it was too cute :)

Working so hard!

Park Fun!

We had some beautiful weather last Saturday, so we decided to take a trip to the park. We had a great time playing! Asher could hardly play for all the socializing he had to do. He is such a friendly baby! He had to say Hey to everyone. I even had to stop him several times from giving hugs and kisses to the other kids playing, telling him that we don't kiss strangers. I guess that is the downside to having such an outgoing, loving baby--but I'll take that any day. It was hard to get pictures of Asher because he is always on the move, but here are a few I was able to snap.

15 month post (a little late)

Whew....Asher is napping, the dishes are done and the laundry is not quite ready to be folded so I have a free second to sit down and update--finally. It seems like so much has happened since the last time I updated the blog, but mainly it has just been the normal day to day routine that keeps us so busy! Asher turned 15 months on the 3rd of February. We went for his checkup that week. He had to get two shots :( He was NOT happy about them either. The older he gets, the more traumatic going to do the doctor for shots seems to be. He was easily consoled once the shots were over and he was in my arms, thankfully. He weighed in at 23 pounds 5 ounces, was 30 1/2" long (which I'm not sure is accurate b/c he was pretty squirmy when he was laying on the table to mark him) and his head circumference was a whopping 18 1/2". He is in the 20th and 30th percentile for his weight, which I was a little concerned about, but our doctor assured me that he is a very healthy boy. He is just very active at this age, so he won't be gaining a lot of weight despite the fact that I feel like he eats almost constantly--haha. And active he certainly is! He keeps this preggo mamma on the go! He has begun to talk so much!! His vocabulary has expanded so much in the past few weeks. Just yesterday morning, I was in our room getting ready and Mickey Mouse came on t.v. and he ran in there and pointed to the t.v. and said 'hot dog' and started doing the hot dog dance (which if you watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse--you know what this is :)). He has started to distinguish his word for more (more-more) and Mommy. He says Mommy very clearly now--which I adore! Other words he has added: shoes, socks, bellybutton, down, snack ('nack'), baby, hot dog, chicken (nickin), paci (pa-pa) and he will say Nonni for my mom and he will try to repeat words, but those are the ones he speaks the clearest. He is so great about following instructions too. Some of his favorite things right now are coloring-he loves to color, playing in the kitchen while we cook, 'helping' us cook, dancing, and chasing Daphne. We are very ready for warm weather--it's harder to find indoor entertainment and we are looking forward to being able to spend days outside! In other news, Asher had a blast playing in the snow we had last weekend. It was beautiful and a perfect amount! Just enough to play in, but not enough to shut everything down ( which doesn't have to be a lot for our little town-hah) I have some really cute video of Asher playing in the snow, I'll have to get Zack to add them later. All in all, life is sweet! We are so amazed at how Asher continues to grow, and change and learn new things right before our eyes--dazzling us with his incredible smile and precious personality! Zack and I were talking about how fast time goes once you have a child. When I was pregnant with Asher, we thought he would never get here-and now he is RUNNING all over the place! Thank you Asher, for being YOU! and for bringing so much crazy joy into our lives! What did we ever do without you little man?

Bath Time Fun!

Not much has been happening around the Casey household lately. We have been busy with our day to day routine. Asher continues to amaze us with the way he is turning more and more in to a little boy-he's not a baby anymore!! He has such a sweet personality, but don't mistake me--he is ALL boy!! He RUNS everywhere, loves to chase Daphne and play with his basketball goal and his slide. There is no taming this little tornado we live with. I love it! He has brought so much happiness and joy into our lives and continues to be such a blessing. Our baby girl is growing (along with her Momma!). I am feeling good and still have a lot of energy, thankfully! I kind of feel sorry for this baby. If I didn't have this protruding abdomen or the occasional pregnancy symptom, I think I would forget I was pregnant. I guess my little boy just keeps me really occupied! Anyways, here are some pictures from bath time.
Don't you just love this face!

Day 7: San Diego Zoo

Asher says RRRaaaarrr!
Nap time :) (He rubs his tummy when he is sleepy)
Asher loves his Pops!!

We spent our last full day in California at the San Diego Zoo. We were all pretty tired after a week of going non-stop, but we were still able to enjoy all the animals at the zoo. It is a HUGE zoo! We got to see lots of animals. The only thing we didn't get to see were the Panda bears because the line was sooooo long. Asher would growl/roar at the animals. He was fascinated by the animals! Some animals that I can remember that we saw: lions, tigers, cheetah, giraffes, rhinoceros, hippo, panther, tapir, meerkats, grizzly bear, black bear, polar bear, elephants, and lots and lots of monkeys. We saw so many other animals, but those are just a few that Zack and I could remember.

Day 6: San Diego and Sea World!

The beach in front of our hotel in San Diego
I had to show a picture of the gigantic bath tub we had in our room! Love it!

Shamu!
Caroline feeding the sea lions
waiting for a bite :)
Meeting Cookie Monster--he was NOT happy about it--haha! (We also met Elmo and Zoe, but those pictures are on the video camera)
Daddy and Asher in front of the penguins
Family picture!

Sea World was a lot of fun!! There were so many neat shows! Asher loved the Shamu show. When he would see Shamu jump out of the water, he would go 'oooohh'--so cute! He also loved the penguins and the dolphins.
